Monday: See Eric Ries in San Francisco (and win a FREE copy of his new book!)
An unmissable event just got even better!
Hi all,
This coming Monday (18th May) at 6pm we’re excited to be welcoming Eric Ries (the legendary author of The Lean Startup) to The Best Bookstore in Union Square for the EARLY launch of his new book, Incorruptible.
As I wrote a couple of weeks ago…
In Incorruptible (Why Good Companies Go Bad... and How Great Companies Stay Great), Eric tackles the problem of why success so often turns companies against the people and principles that made them worth building in the first place.
Moral weakness? Greed? Corruption? Maybe. Except, as Eric’s research showed time and time again, the phenomenon occurs even despite the best intentions of the people inside the companies in question.
So why do companies founded with strong ideals drift toward short-term thinking, extractive behavior, and mission abandonment? Why do so many great founders end up being kicked out despite doing everything right? And more importantly, how can you build an organization from day one to stop it happening to you?
Those are the questions Eric answers in Incorruptible. And - remember what I said about hyperbole? Well, Eric dropped off an advance copy at the store a week ago, I read it in a single sitting and I’m absolutely convinced: This will be the most important and influential book for entrepreneurs for the next decade.
Eric will be joined on stage by (the equally legendary) Sarah Lacy to talk about the book, and the wider question of why good companies go bad. Afterwards there will be a q&a and book signing with copies of the book available to buy A FULL WEEK before the official publication date!!
Again, the event starts at 6pm THIS MONDAY at 226 Powell St, San Francisco.
Register to attend here.
AND IT GETS BETTER — we know there are folks (students, struggling founders, etc etc) who could benefit hugely from the insights in Incorruptible but don’t have a spare $32. And that’s ok! Because thanks to a very generous sponsor we have 20 copies of the book to give away absolutely free to the next 20 people who RSVP here (choose the free “without book” option)
Note: The sponsored books are only available for pickup in person at the event so please don’t rsvp if you can’t make it on Monday at 6pm!
If that link is closed then the regular rsvp link is here.
We can’t wait to see you on Monday!
Paul and Sarah
